Testing for Faulty Inverter Transformers Tutorial (Part 1)
In this video I will show you how to test for faulty transformers on an inverter. This inverter is from a 26″ Proton plasma TV which had 1 bad transformer. The symptoms of a bad inverter (or in this case a bad transformer ON the inverter) are: 1.) TV powers on and backlight flashes for a second before the screen goes black. 2.) The power and the audio work fine. This testing method (checking the winding resistance) can be used for transformers in general as long as you know what the primary and secondary winding resistance is supposed to be. Please feel free to ask me any questions regarding this video. Especially if you have little or no experience working on electronics. While I don’t consider myself a plasma TV expert (this is the first plasma TV I’ve ever worked on), I have many years of trouble shooting experience and have a solid foundation in electronics theory to be able to explain things in greater detail if need be. That being said, I hope you find this video tutorial to be useful! ps replacement transformers can be found at lcdparts.net
